Having tried a few of the subscription boxes I felt like it was about time to do a bit of a round up and comparison for anyone who is humming and haw-ing on the best options for them.
Bellabox Australia – $15/month. This is probably the most variable service, you get great months and dire months. They often arrived quite late which is a grumble point amongst many bloggers and usually have smaller samples, with one full sized product each month. I have a subscription and don’t mind the surprise angle but it does bug some people.
Most of the products are drugstore level and there are always a few skin creams/hair shampoos with one or two makeup items.
Violetbox – $21.95/month. This service send more full sized products and they tend to be from brands that don’t have that much of a presence in Australia. Many bloggers love them but I did find the colours they sent a bit annoying (a full sized mineral powder in Amber which is a waste for the many people who aren’t that shade). The estimates of the prices tend to be a bit *generous* considering they are often hard to find in australia and/or end of line items – one of the products that was marked as having a RRP of $60 was available on amazon for $6 as it was discontinued. .
the parcel – $25/once per quarter. This service has only been in action for a few boxes now and is a quarterly edit by the Marie Claire editorial team. It’s really nice box, mainly mid-high end products in deluxe samples and full sizes. You can get a real feel for the products and there is a nice range and consistency to what’s on offer.
lust have it – $19.95 per month. Lust have it have a range of boxes and also seem to have some thought into the edit so each box works together. The products can be a bit same-same month to month and they also have some issues with running into the next month but overall this is one of the more consistant
lookfantastic – $30ish/month (15 GBP so depends on the exchange rate). This box is seriously good value – it has 5-6 generous high end samples and a nice mix of makeup/hair/skin samples. I’m still using my eve lom cleanser and will be buying some afterwards because I can actually see how it works on my skin unlike some of the tiny samples you get.
So in conclusion – the best box depends on your circumstances. Bellabox is a fun splurge for myself, and I think a years subscription to the parcel would be great gift for a girlfriend at $90.
What are you favourite boxes? Any aussie ones I’ve missed but should give a try.
